Love Is Here… Love Is Unconditional

Disclaimer, this article is not something that I recently wrote. I wrote this on October 21, 2019, I wasn’t planning on posting it for a while.

Here we go. I hope you enjoy my four A.M. thoughts.

When I was fourteen, I was out with my mother eating dinner with a former acquaintance. The room was loud, and we were gathered around a table with others eating dinner when I hear a song that peaked my attention. The song was called “Britney”, written by Bebo Norman.

If you know me, you know this song is so special to me. If you don’t know me nor know why this song is so special to me, you’ll find out why.

In a 2008 interview, Bebo Norman shared his experience writing this song. “… I was absolutely blown away by this sense that if I was in my darkest moment, and I have been in many, what would Jesus say to me in that moment? He’d probably turn to me and say, “I’m sorry for what this world has done and for how hard this world is, and I’m here. Hope is here.”

I’m not perfect, my story is a testament to that.

The bridge of the song says, “Love has come, here for the broken, here for the ones like us.”

The One who is perfect is the One who created us all, and the one who died for us and has healed us.

If we were made to be perfect, there would be no sin, no Jesus. Would we even be our authentic, true selves if we were perfect?

Jesus was human just like we are.

To know He experienced what we experience every day is mind-boggling. Jesus’ life also makes me wonder how do we help others if we haven’t gone through the very same thing?

To know that God sent His son to be with one with us, to relate to us, and to give His life so that we could experience eternal life is nothing but unconditional love.

Even the term “unconditional love” is an understatement.

He loves you. No matter what you’ve done, I’m here to remind you that Jesus loves you.

The course goes, “I know love goes around the world we know, and you never see it coming back, but I can see Him coming back for you.”

Love is coming back. Love is here, love will always be here. You’re never too far from love.

The song “Britney” was written not only for Britney Spears, but for the fourteen year old me who struggled with an eating disorder and thought she wasn’t good enough and needed to seek validation from others.

This song was written for the twenty-two year old me who wants to one day help others realize their worth, just like I’m still learning my worth and who I am in Jesus.

I’ve spent my whole life trying to be someone I wasn’t, I even tried to get others to like me and seemed to put my validation in the hands of others hoping that I’ll be accepted.

Practice saying these in the mirror every time you look at yourself.

I am beautiful.

I am strong.

I am enough.

I am whole and complete.

I am me.

Your words have power and can shape who you are. Choose your words wisely.

God only made one you. Embrace who you are.

You are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14)

As always, my DM’s and messages are always open for prayer, a conversation, and a warm welcome. (@thebeautifulwonder on Instagram and Facebook, as well as @javannahev on my personal Instagram)
